The main new of the 24th Edition of the Biennial is: WOOL MILL “EMPTY SPACE_INCUBATOR OF IDEAS”. This is an invitation to artists from all over the world to express their voice through the art of forging. The Biennale aims to create stimuli and methods of confrontation for artists who decide to get involved and to educate people about everything that is beautiful, but also and above all to break the mold and create new points of view.

REGULATIONS WOOL MILL EMPTY SPACE_INCUBATOR OF IDEAS

Everything indicated in these regulations will take place in compliance with the anti Covid_19 regulations in force at the time of the XXIV Edition of the European Biennial of Blacksmith Art.

PREMISE
The European Biennial of Blacksmith Art is the largest event in Italy dedicated to the world of forging as an artistic and architectural expression that is held every two years in the town of Pratovecchio Stia, in the Casentino valley, in Tuscany. 
WOOL MILL “EMPTY SPACE_INCUBATOR OF IDEAS” is an invitation to artists from all over the world to express their voice through the art of forging. The Biennale aims to create stimuli and methods of confrontation for artists who decide to get involved and to educate people about everything that is beautiful, but also and above all to break the mold and create new points of view. 

PURPOSE
WOOL MILL “EMPTY SPACE_INCUBATOR OF IDEAS” is an innovative and central element of the 24th European Biennial of Blacksmith Art – it allows the hybridization of languages, it breaks down geographical borders, it builds a collective discourse, it investigates current issues, and it tries to recompose individual discourses into a collective narrative.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Participation is open to all artists, professionals, artisans or lovers of blacksmith art, individually or collectively.
Participation is open to all those who at the time of registration will be in possession of the Green Pass, or to those who will have a negative result in a swab carried out in the previous 48 hours.
For those who need it, the possibility will be given to make a quick swab directly in Stia, upon reservation, at least 24 hours in advance, at a cost of € 20.00, at the International Information Point in Piazza Mazzini, in order to access the exhibition spaces of the Wool Mill.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Each participant can propose projects, works, sketches and visions that have blacksmith art as a common basis, as an expression of originality, creativity and innovation.

It is possible to participate by completing the participation form.

The participation form for WOOL MILL “EMPTY SPACE_INCUBATOR OF IDEAS” must be sent by 22nd August 2021 to: info@biennaleartefabbrile.it

By submitting the application form, the applicant declares to have read and accepted these general provisions without reservation.

DETAILS REGARDING THE EVENT

  • Participants will arrange themselves according to the instructions given to them by the organizers;
  • The allocation of spaces and the confirmation of participation are postponed at the sole discretion of the organization.

STATION ALLOCATION, PRESENCE, SURVEILLANCE
The exhibitor undertakes to occupy only the area assigned to him/her by the organizer. The organizer declines all responsibility in the event of theft or damage. It is therefore understood that the Autonomous Association for the Biennial of Blacksmith Art will not have a custody obligation towards the individual exhibition spaces and the goods stored therein, with the consequent exclusion of any related liability.
Only the night guard service will be guaranteed, from 24:00 to 7:00.

SETTING UP, LOADING AND UNLOADING
Artists will be given the opportunity to bring their works from Monday 30th August 2021 to Wednesday 1st September 2021 respecting the following timetables:
• morning from 10:00 to 13:00
• afternoon from 15:00 to 20:00
Outside of the indicated times it will not be possible to set up one’s own station.

DAMAGES TO STRUCTURES
The structures present in the exhibition must be returned by the exhibitors in the same condition in which they were taken over by them. Any restoration costs following damage will be charged to the exhibitor himself/herself.

PROHIBITIONS
It is forbidden for the exhibitors to:

  • occupy different or larger spaces than those assigned; 
  • use for the setting up staple guns, nails, adhesives, glues or other materials that could damage the exhibition structures; 
  • use heating sources that involve the use of flames, gases or other fuels; 
  • intervene on the electrical system; 
  • apply advertising panels or banners of any type or size to the outside; 
  • use machinery and / or equipment without the authorization of the organizers.

The Organising Committee and the Municipality of Pratovecchio Stia announce and organise for the period from 29th August to 1st September 2019 the XXIII European Biennial Show of Blacksmithing Art – Mercantile Exposition of Wrought Iron Handicraft.

The exhibition is divided into two sections:

1. Tradition. Construction of objects and works in wrought iron through forging, without the help of different techniques and not necessarily based on a graphic project.

2. Innovation. Creation of objects and works in iron, through forging and / or with the use of other techniques typical of blacksmithing art, based on a graphic project.

The Jury reserves the right to give a special prize to a young exhibitor (from 15 to 30 years of age).
The Committee may also establish special mentions to be assigned at its sole discretion.

The exhibition is divided into two sections:

The XXIII EUROPEAN BIENNIAL SHOW OF BLACKSMITHING ART publishes an exhibitors catalogue.

Therefore, each exhibitor must send no later than June 30th 2019 at least 4 digital photographs in .jpeg format (300 dpi resolution) or must attach them to the application form which can be filled out on the website of the Biennial Association:

www.biennaleartefabbrile.it.

The pictures must portray the works that will be exhibited and must have a descriptive caption.

The Organising Committee has the right to exclude from the publication those photographs which are deemed not suitable – the Organising Committee has also the right, where necessary, to modify the text of the caption affixed.

The available stands will have the following dimensions:

  • 3 x 3 m
  • 3 x 4 m

Exhibitors are entitled to request a maximum of 2 contiguous stands which can be granted based on availability.

The works proposed by the individual exhibitors must not have been exhibited in previous editions of the European Biennial Show of Blacksmithing Art in Stia.

The stands must be adequately furnished and cannot be closed on three sides with drapes, curtains or panels to completely cover the structure. They will have to be ready from the evening before the inauguration.

Exhibitors are entirely liable for the static structures of the stands – exhibitors will therefore exempt the Organisation for any damage caused to themselves or to third parties.

In order to ensure the smooth running of the competition, exhibitors must exclusively occupy the exhibition space assigned to them by the Organising Committee, with the type of goods explicitly specified in the registration form. The layout of each space must be environmentally friendly and must comply with current regulations.

At the end of the event, exhibitors must leave the exhibition space in the normal conditions of use in which they found it. The Management reserves the right to request changes to the layout of the spaces that will not be considered environmentally friendly and not compliant with current regulations.

RENOUNCEMENT: Exhibitors who are unable to attend the event due to legitimate and proven impossibility can ask the Association for the dissolution of their commitment no later than 20 days before the beginning of the exhibition.

In this case, the association will return 50% of the total registration fee to the renouncing exhibitor – if the renouncement occurs after the aforementioned time, the entire sum paid by the exhibitor will be withheld.

The Organising Committee reserves the right to assign the renouncing exhibitor’s stand to another exhibitor.

Access to the exhibition spaces and the permanence of motor vehicles are not allowed 2 hours before the opening time on 29th August.

It is not allowed in any case to access the exhibition spaces with vehicles during opening hours.

Exhibition spaces can be set up from Monday 26th August to Wednesday 28th August from 8.30 am to 11.00 pm – it is possible to dismantle the exhibition spaces on Sunday 1st after 9.00 pm and on Monday 2nd September from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm.

Exhibitors will take care of transporting and setting up their own objects at their own expense, as well as collecting them at the end of the exhibition.

The exhibitors relieve the Committee of any burden and responsibility which, as Organiser, is deemed to bear.

The exhibition will be open every day from 9.30 am to 11.00 pm. During this time each exhibitor will be responsible for his or her own stand.

Exhibitors have the right to submit a price list of the works on sale at their stand at the INFO POINT of the exhibition hall.

Exhibitors must ensure their presence at their exhibition space at least 10 minutes before the opening and during all hours of public access to the exhibition. In the event of any damage or theft due to lack of surveillance or negligence on the part of the exhibitors, the Organisation cannot be held responsible.

The European Biennial Show of Blacksmithing Art will be inaugurated on the morning of Thursday 29th August 2019 at 10.30 am and will close on Sunday 1st September at 9.00 pm.

All exhibitors must, strictly speaking, respect these hours and the stands must remain properly furnished during the entire period.

For each section, a single award of € 500.00 will be awarded to the best stands by a Jury that will announce the winners’ names during the Award Ceremony which will be held at 5.30 pm on Sunday 1st September in Piazza B. Tanucci.
