The second edition of the “European Biennial of the Blacksmith ” Photography Contest aims to immortalize the art of the masters.
The theme’s contest is “Iron and Fire” two elements that through wise hands transform into art
1 – Participation in the contest is open to everyone, both enthusiasts and professionals, without any limit of age and nationality.
2 – Participants can only submit pictures which are linked to the XXII edition of the European Biennial of the Blacksmith taking place on the 31th August, 1st, 2nd and 3rd of September 2017.
3 – Participation in the contest is free.
4 – Participants can only submit a maximum of 5 pictures – participants shall send their pictures within and no later than the 10th of September 2017 to the following email address:
In their emails participants will have to indicate their NAME, SURNAME, TELEPHONE NUMBER and put the following sentence as their email’s object:
“European Biennial of the Blacksmith Photography Contest”
5 – Participants are allowed to send digital files. The longest side of JPG images will have to be up to a maximum size of 1920 pixels and weigh no more than 3 MB.
Each submitted file will have the photographer’s NAME and SURNAME, a TITLE and a PROGRESSIVE NUMBER (e. g. GUIDOBIANCHI_TITLE_01.jpg).
File preparation is allowed as long as it does not go beyond what is necessary for a basic cleaning of the picture (understood as the elimination of blemishes which are due to the presence of dust on the sensor and also as noise reduction)
It is not permitted to: add elements to or remove elements from the pictures, stitch multiple photos together or apply sandwich photo effects. Participants are allowed to submit multiple exposures, but only if the technique of multiple exposure is part of their camera’s original functions.
Participants are not allowed to add frames, watermarks or signatures to their pictures.
6 – The pictures will be awarded according to the final decision of the Jury. The Jury will assess each participant’s capacity to interpret the theme of the contest, as well as the creativity and the technical content of the images submitted to the competition.
The Jury will be composed of members of the “Associazione Autonoma per la Biennale d’Arte Fabbrile”.
The decision of the Jury is binding, therefore unquestionable.
7 – The prizes to be awarded are:
- 1st Place Winner – Wrought Iron Piece
- 2nd Place Winner – Wrought Iron Piece
- 3rd Place Winner – Wrought Iron Piece
The prize-giving ceremony will take place in November 19 2017 during the VinOlioNovo event which will be held within the premises of the old Wool Mill in Stia.
8 – The winners will receive an email notification thanks to which they will also get all of the instructions needed to upload the original files of the submitted images, that is to say the winners will have to upload their winning images in their original unretouched form using one of the following formats: RAW, DNG or JPG. If the winners have submitted a scanned file, they will have to send the original slide of that file.
If the winners do not send the original files of the winning images, those images will be disqualified.
9 – The rights to the submitted photos must belong to their authors only, without publishing restrictions of any kind.
10 – The European Biennial of the Blacksmith shall have the right at all times to use any of the images submitted to the competition free of charge and to publish them online or to use them for publicity brochures or calendars. Similarly the European Biennial of the Blacksmith shall have the right to display the submitted pictures in the exhibitions regarding the contest itself as well as in any other event or show which is believed to be pertinent to the images by the organisers.
11 – The organising body reserves the right to modify and/or abolish at any time the conditions and the procedures regarding the photography contest itself before its conclusion. In such a situation the organising body will take steps to inform the participants of the changed circumstances.
12 – By sending their images participants implicitly declare to be the authors of the pictures that they send and to have the rights to those pictures, exonerating the organising body from being responsible towards any possible request made by third parties about the rights of ownership to the entries that have been submitted to the competition or also about the violation of the rights of the people identified in the submitted photos or finally about any other right regarding the submitted photos. By sending their images participants accept these regulations.
13 – Any personal information shall be used in accordance with the regulations on the safeguard of privacy. According to Article 13 of the Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003, personal details supplied by the applicants will be collected in order to manage selection. Personal data will be processed using automatic computerised methods for as long as needed to achieve the goal for which the data has been collected. The data supply is obligatory and essential to the evaluation of the participation requirements, on penalty of exclusion from the selection.
