1st International Sculpture Competition
The novelty of the XXII edition of the Biennale Europea d’Arte Fabbrile will be the organization of the 1st International Sculpture Competition, the contest theme designated by the organizing committee is: “natural geometries.”
The word geometry should give the artist wide possibilities of expression; the word natural is the strong and unbreakable bond with our territory, that is located within the National Park of Casentino’s Forests, Mount Falterona and Campigna, those forests have always inspired the life values and principles of popolation.
The sculptures will be exhibited in the charming Piazza Tanucci and become elements of preparation for the creation of a sculpture path.
- May 15: deadline for accepting registration requests
- May 31: Annuncement of the of the selected projects
- From 09:00 of Tuesday 29 August until 12:00 Wednesday 30 August : Works submission deadline
- 31 August-3 September: selected sculptures exhibition
- September 3: Announcement and awarding of the three winning sculptures
- The non-winning sculptures are to be collected within 12:00 on Monday 04 September
PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION IS SUBMITTED BY THE ACCETTAPTION WITHOUT RESERVES OF ALL THE RULES LAID DOWN IN THIS REGULATION AND THE DECISIONS OF THE IS UNAPPEALEBLE.
THE CONTEST IS OPEN TO ADULT ARTISTS THAT SUBMIT UNRELASED PROJECTS.
The “1st International Contest of Sculpture” on the theme “Natural Geometries” will be set up in Piazza B. Tanucci in Stia during the days Biennale Europea d’Arte Fabbrile (31.08.2017 – 09.03.2017).
There will be no registration fee, but the expensens to the participants are :
- Shipping costs of the required documentation for registration (for hard copies sent), form and its annexes
- Transportation costs of selected works
The sculptures must be made mainly of metal / combination of metals. Use of other materials is accepted up to 20% of the total.
Sculpture dimension must be contained in a virtual parallelepiped of size of 1000x1000x1800 mm. The height of the sculpture must be between: minimum 500 mm and maximum 1800 mm.
As the works will be displayed in a public area you need to take into account aspects related to the safety and health of visitors, so the works must not protrude outside of the square base which will have dimensions of 1000×1000 mm.
Works to be mounted to the wall are exludes, so the sculptures must necessarily be self-supporting. The base of the works must be equipped with suitable fastening system on the underlying wood base.
Proposals must be sent in the form of drawings (A3 paper format or pdf format) or 1:10 scale model (the images of the model must be in jpg format sizes up to 3MB) accompanied by:
- Actual size and approximateweight of the final work proposal
- title and brief description of the same,
- a phrase that can condense the artist’s intent, the meaning, the symbolic value of the work

Applications deadline is Monday, May 15, 2017 (applications received after that date will be excluded from the competition). The selection of applications received online or by regular mail will take place by Wednesday, May 31, 2017, by then the selected candidates will receive an invitation to participate in the above competition. Proposals will be evaluated by a jury whose decision is final.
Works must be in Stia from 09:00 of Tuesday, August 29, 2017 by 12.00 am of Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
Works delivery cost will be sustained by participants.
They will be awarded the three projects that the jury deems to have the most consistent characteristics closely with the theme of the competition. The three winning works will remain property of the Autonomous Association for the European Biennial of Art Fabbrile you will find a suitable location to the sculptures in the village of Stia.
Following will be awarded:
First prize € 3,000.00
Second prize € 1,500.00
Third prize € 750.00
Winners will be decided by the jury and their decision will be final and non-appealable
The names of the winners will be announced during the award ceremony which will be held Sunday, September 3rd, 2017 at 17:30.
