Biennale Europea d'Arte Fabbrile di Stia

International Sculpture Competition

The Biennial Show of Blacksmithing Art dedicates the 3rd International Sculpture Competition 2021 to the great poet Dante Alighieri, for the 700th anniversary of his death.

International Sculpture Competition

After the success of the second edition of the sculpture competition, the 3rd INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE COMPETITION will be organized again duringthe XXIV Edition of the Biennale Europea d’Arte Fabbrile, the theme of the competition designated by the Organizing Committee, with the patronage of the Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, in memory of the great poet Dante Alighieri, for the 700th anniversary of his death, is:

“…e quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle” (“…and thence we came forth to see again the stars”)

It is the last hendecasyllable with which Inferno closes, the first canticle of the Divine Comedy, the famous poem by Dante Alighieri.

The journey into Hell alternates between strong amorous and political passions, thirst for knowledge, raw images of devils and mythological figures. In the metaphorical journey towards the light, the verses of the Great Poet make us feel that we are a National Community, giving us a bit of hope: after “the hell of the pandemic” our desire to “be reborn” will lead us to “see the stars”.

The sculptures will be exhibited during the main event in the suggestive piazza B. Tanucci and they will be used as staging elements for the creation of a sculptural path.

Two of the winning works of the competition will be placed in the park of the Palagio Fiorentino – where a Dante Center has been created – and one will remain at the disposal of the Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi to be placed in a suitable space identified by the institution itself.

The Association reserves the right to disqualify, even in retrospect, with the restitution of the prize in the event of a win. The prize will be given to the immediately following competitor in the ranking list. In the case that the competitor appears among the winners and is excluded from the competition, all the necessary costs for the withdrawal of the prize will be on their dime.

The “3rd International Sculpture Competition” on the theme “…e quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle” (“…and thence we came forth to see again the stars”) will be set up in Piazza B. Tanucci in Stia during the days of the Biennale Europea d’Arte Fabbrile (02nd September 2021 – 05th September 2021).
