The Biennial Art of Wrought Iron of Stia meets the Exhibition of Artisan Crafts of Anghiari
The Casentino valley is not only rich in landscapes, art, and typical products, but also of the “know-how” culture that has been passed from father to son, forming a priceless heritage.
In particular in the municipality of Stia, now Pratovecchio-Stia, an exhibition has been held since 1976 that aims to raise awareness of an old Art that has always accompanied Man: FORGING OF THE IRON.
Every two years, Italian and foreign master blacksmiths gather in our town to compare their experiences and to give life to a great show of extempore forging, which will be proposed again in Anghiari on 1st, 2nd and 3rd May.
The Biennial Art of Wrought Iron of Stia and the Exhibition of Artisan Crafts in Valtiberina Tuscany are united by the desire to preserve and spread what our ancestors taught us to do with our hands – transforming a trade in art- therefore we are honored of the invitation to attend the 40th edition of the Exhibition in Anghiari: they are two events created during the same years and have simultaneously grown to the current high levels of quality, two adjacent valleys that finally meet, laying the foundation of a partnership that will hopefully be fruitful and durable.
This is the wish of our Association – Biennial Art of Wrought Iron-, a wish that already has a solid basis, given the effective collaboration that has developed between our two municipal administrations.
The President of the Biennial Wrought Iron
